Whoa Reader!
Did you see the news today that OpenAI suddenly locked personal accounts out of creating new Custom GPTs, you probably saw a whole lot of panic... And maybe even felt some too.
First - do not freak out.
You can still edit and share existing GPTs. "Existing GPTs remain available to use..."
Second, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
AI Assistants (including your existing CustomGPTs) are incredibly valuable and hold your intellectual property.
The problem was never the assistants.
The problem is treating a tool like a system.
The good news here is that it is super easy to migrate your CustomGPT instructions to another platform ~ or turn it into an AI skill.
When you build a foundational system first:
- Your IP, business logic, and frameworks belong to you
- Your AI assistants can live anyway
- You can plug them into Claude, ChatGPT, or whatever comes next without missing a beat
A tool gives you a shortcut for a task.
A system gives you the strategic leverage to run your business on which tool you want.
